About Us
OUR MISSION
CHIRP/LA is a HOPWA-funded housing information and referral program dedicated to preventing homelessness and improving the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. CHIRP/LA has collaborated with local AIDS Service Organizations and community based organizations to develop an extensive clearinghouse of information and referrals for housing options as well as other related support services.
Services Available to Qualifying Individuals:
Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) Program
This transportation program helps qualifying LA County residents save on fares. Once enrolled in the program, client can purchase discounted passes or load 20 free regional rides on Metro or any participating transit agencies. For more information, please click here.
No Fee and Reduced Fee Identification Forms
Generally, there is a nonrefundable fee to apply for a new ID card, to renew an ID card, or to change your name on your ID card. a client may be eligible to pay a reduced application fee for an original or renewal ID card if they meet income requirements. Housing Stability Workshops
Housing Stability workshop is geared to clients that are moving into permanent housing for the first time and/or are currently looking for Section 8 housing. Topics included in the curriculum: Budgeting, obtaining and understanding your credit report, landlord/tenant training, medication compliance, understanding a rental application and how to complete it with confidence, mock landlord interview. Clothing Assistance Program
Our Clothing Assistance Program supports clients and their families living under or near the poverty line by providing gift cards that can be redeemed for clothing, shoes, and accessories. Cards are distributed by NCJW|LA monthly. We directly issue 50 cards each month. Once the cards are gone, clients may still apply and will be added to the waitlist for the following month. Each eligible family member can receive a single gift card each year. Children under the age of eight receive a $30.00 card.
Email Set-Up
Assist clients to create an email to allow easy communication with others and connect with our mailing list to obtain resources.
Free Credit Check
A credit check allows clients to review their financial history, and they will have access to a free credit report.

ACCESSING SERVICES
Clients are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 213.741.1951 or sending an email.
New clients must provide the following documents:
· Valid California ID or Driver’s License
· HIV/AIDS Diagnosis form
· Proof of Income (GR or SSI print out, 3 months of pay stubs, bank statements, etc.)
· Proof of address (government document or current utility bill)
